Block ice is typically used for freezing in the transportation of food products. Cold Jet also uses block dry ice for our block shaving blast units. They typical block size is 5kg with approximate dimensions of: 160mm x 80mm x 250mm.
Block dry ice has a surface temperature of -78.5 degrees C. Dry ice has the convenient nature of sublimation; whereby the solid transforms directly from a solid to a gas without turning to a liquid as it heats.
The super-cold temperature and the sublimation feature make dry ice great for refrigeration. For example; if you want to send something frozen across the country, you can pack it in dry ice. The product will be frozen when it reaches its destination and there will be no messy liquid left over like you would have with normal ice.
Dry Ice Pellets can be produced in different densities and sizes to best meet each customer's specific cleaning application. Pellet sizes range from 1 mm to 3 mm. The standard size for Cold Jet dry ice blasting equipment is 3 mm.
Dry ice pellets are a convenient alternative to solid block dry ice.
The benefit to blasting with dry ice pellets is increased surface coverage, efficiency in handling and uniform temperature distribution.
Nuggets are typically used for freezing or refrigeration of perishable goods mainly for transportation purposes. Nugget sizes range from 6 mm to 19 mm.
Nuggets keep the temperature low, provide uniform temperature control and distribution.
